Moving In New Sims (NPC and another player's)

One of the best features of The Sims Mobile is that other than the regular interactions with your neighbors, they can ask your Sim to move out to join their household and you can also do the same with their Sims that you have been interacting with.

To be able to ask another player's Sim to move in, you need an empty active slot and a level 8 relationship with that Sim. This can be seen in the video.

The same thing can be done with an NPC. They can be easily identified by not having any plumbobs above their heads, and remember, you can only move an NPC who hasn't retired yet.

But what happens when you try to make an NPC move into your house?

First, you need an empty inactive slot in your household. This can be seen by tapping your family portrait at home and checking your current generation.

In the screenshot above, you can see there's a spot for an inactive Sim. You need this first before you begin asking the NPC to move in.

In order to get this to work, make sure you start a romantic relationship with them, reach level 8, enough to propose and have a wedding. If you proposed and got married to the NPC but haven't reached level 8 yet, you will have to divorce that NPC, build the relationship more and remarry. Once you reached level 8 of romantic relationship with the NPC, he or she will be added to your current generation.

You will be asked if you want the NPC to be made playable and allow the NPC to move in immediately or by moving out another inactive household member (if your house is full).

IMPORTANT:

  • Do not divorce that NPC even if he or she is inactive in your family portrait. Divorcing means that NPC is no longer married to your active Sim and they will move out automatically and you will have to redo the steps again if you want them back in.
  • Do not retire the Sim that is married to the NPC as it will make the NPC turn into an elder too and you can no longer make them playable. You will only have the option to move them out. This is something that can never be undone.
You can do the mentioned above after promoting the NPC as an active, playable Sim.

------FAQs-----
------------------

  1. What happens if I married an NPC, promoted them and divorced them. Will they leave the house? - No, they will stay as a playable Sim.
  2. Why is my retired NPC no longer in my family portrait after I divorced them? - If you divorced the NPC after they retired, the NPC will leave your house. They will show up in town once in a while (if one of your active Sims has started a relationship with them). Choose carefully what you want to do with the NPC before letting them go because when they're retired, you can't move them back in.
Your NPC can be moved twice.

If you have already promoted them, you can host or join any party and anyone can see them, interact with them. They can also be moved into another household after moving into yours, but once they're moved for the second time, they will be permanently unmovable.

Meanwhile, if once you moved out an inactive member of your household (if they haven't retired yet), they should still show up once in a while as an NPC. Marry them if you want them back into your household, following the same steps as above.
